Blairgowrie Charrette

4-consulting were asked to provide a review of the local economy for a Charrette in Blairgowrie.  A charrette is an intensive planning session where citizens, designers and others collaborate on a vision for development. It provides a forum for ideas and offers the unique advantage of giving immediate feedback to the designers. 4-consulting were part of a successful team that included town planners, economists and architects.

4-consulting showed that Blairgowrie Town Centre has a high share of employment and Sustainable Tourism, in which it was almost double that of Scotland.  4-consulting also showed the number of jobs in Blairgowrie has risen slightly over the last five years. 4-consulting found there were around 2,800 jobs across the town, with just over half based in the town centre.

4-consulting were able to do in-depth primary research, such as a town asset audit and business workshops, both of which were key to the success of the Charrette. The work 4-consulting undertook gained positive coverage in a national newspaper:
